About our region:
Pune, formerly known as Poona, is the second largest city in the Indian State of Maharashtra , after Mumbai, and the eighth most populous city in India, with an estimated population of 7.4 million as of 2020. It has been ranked as "the most livable city in India" several times. Pune is the cultural capital of the Maratha peoples. The city first gained importance as the capital of the Bhonsle Marathas in the 17th century. It was temporarily captured by the Mughals but again served as the official Maratha capital from 1714 until its fall to the British in 1817.

The importance of sports, and thus sports facilities:
There must be plenty of sports facilities in all cities and for all age groups, as it would invariably encourage people of all ages such as smaller children to the elderly to engage themselves and stay fit! For long sports have been viewed as a way to stay healthy and keep active. Its benefits have gone further beyond this. It has got both physical and physiological benefits. Among the physiological benefits is mental health. Academics is related to the ability of the brain to
capture, store and process information. The impact sports have are limitless.
Health
It helps one burn calories reducing chances of falling victim to obesity. Sports also help in the fight against
cancer and other lifestyle diseases.
Self-confidence and self-esteem
The handshake after the game develops self-esteem. Words of encouragement and
praise also boosts self confidence.
Teamwork
Teamwork is key to success. In sports, you have to collaborate with other team members
to win.
Social Skills
Sports brings people together. It provides opportunities to go to foreign countries and learn the
language. This helps build a sense of belonging as well. These skills and exposure later
help students in the future in their career and relationships.
Brainpower
Sports is the best at fighting stress. Sports help with the improvement of the cognitive and memory function
of the brain.
Discipline
Discipline is key to success in sports. In sports, a student has to follow the rules set and
obey his or her coach. With discipline, a student can reach his or her goals. Time
management skills are learned in sports. When you are on tight schedules and have no
time for assignments due to sporting activities.
Career and passion
Some students are good at sports. There is nothing as sweet as doing what you are
talented at. For example, as a footballer, you can have a passion of becoming a top athlete after which you
could also become a coach and train other budding athletes as well.
Improved energy levels
Regular body exercise improves our energy levels. Sports students can be active
throughout the day without getting tired. Regular body exercise increases stamina and boosts the performance of
the lungs . They are able to absorb more oxygen into the body which is used in the
generation of energy. Sports students can thus perform tasks with fewer struggles.
Managing emotions
Emotions run high in sports. Sports persons can control their emotions. Coaches
train students how various negative emotions can affect their performance.
Learning how to handle emotions would really help one handle critical life challenges later
on in life.
